James Witwicki, Strathcona Vineyard’s poet in residence has been given the task of writing reflections on relationships through poetry or prose this summer.

Been Alone

by James Witwicki

I’ve been alone,

And I’ve been down.

Feeling like God

Just wasn’t around.

I’ve been still, silent.

I just couldn’t pray.

Felt like this is the way

I would always stay.

But the Lord had ideas

I couldn’t perceive:

Grace, mercy, kindness

I was meant to receive.

With one eye cracked open

Spiritually limping along

I found new directions.

I learned a new song.

He led me. He healed me.

And as He renewed me

Along His ancient way

I followed, I listened, I prayed.
